ASPENDOS BORN AGAIN
In 2022, Aspendos returns to the flamboyance of its days of antiquity. Celebrated opera singers such as Placido Domingo and Alessandro Safina, as well as stars such as Gipsy Kings, Buika and Kovacs will carry Aspendos to the height of its glory days in ancient times.
In addition to special shows such as the Talent Winners Night — organised for the benefit of stray animals — jazz masters such as Jacky Terrasson, Spyro Gyra and Matt Bianco will take the stage at the Aspendos Ancient Theatre.
ALESSANDRO SAFINA
Alessandro Safina, the well-known mainstay of Operatic Pop, will take the stage with the Limak Philharmonic Orchestra in September. Alessandro Safina is known worldwide for his duets with names such as Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli, as well as pieces such as “Insieme A Te” and “Luna” that made him famous.
While staying at Papillon Zeugma Relaxury, Alessandro Safina was the guest of a program for TRT Music channel hosted by a member of famous Turkish music band MFÖ, Fuat Güner. Terrace Bar hosted this exclusive interview with its ambiance reflecting the unique mosaics of the ancient city of Zeugma.
PLACIDO DOMINGO
feat. MURAT KARAHAN
The world-famous Italian tenor Placido Domingo will give a concert on September 29 with Türkiye’s famous tenor Murat Karahan, General Manager of the State Opera and Ballet.
Domingo will perform famous works of opera for the audience during this concert, accompanied by the Limak Philharmonic Orchestra, whose General Artistic Director is Murat Karahan.
GIPSY KINGS
The Gipsy Kings, which gained worldwide fame with their 1987 single “Bamboléo”, gave a concert at the Aspendos Ancient Theatre on August 14.
Audiences were treated to an exquisite evening, flavoured with Spanish flamenco sounds by the Gipsy Kings, who honoured us with their stay at the Papillon Zeugma Relaxury.
TALENT WINNERS NIGHT
On August 4, at the Talent Winners Night, the winners of vocal competitions of Spain and England gave a concert for the benefit of stray animals.
Audiences enjoyed a magnificent night of classical music as performed by Jonathan Antoine, the UK winner of the worldwide famous “The Voice” competitions, and the Spanish winner, Cristina Ramos, , accompanied by the Limak Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Turan Manafzade.
BUIKA
Concha Buika, the daughter of Juan Balboa Boneke, a former politician and writer exiled to Spain from Equatorial Guinea, takes her place on the Aspendos stage with her music, which seamlessly blends flamenco and jazz rhythms.
